DENVER – Major League Lacrosse announced Denver Outlaws defenseman Lee Zink as Week 7’s Warrior Defensive Player of the Week on Monday in recognition of his performance in Denver’s 16-11 win over the New York Lizards this past Saturday.

Zink anchored a defense that held the Lizards to 11 goals and 27 ground balls—both numbers below their season average. The two-time MLL Defensive Player of the Year kept New York power players Jo-Jo Marasco and Ned Crotty to only two points in the outing.

The 10-year MLL veteran is a seven-time All-Star and will play for Team USA this summer when they face the MLL All-Star squad before competing at the 2014 FIL World Championships.

Zink has appeared in 124 MLL games, which ranks sixth all-time in MLL history, with 103 of those games being for the Outlaws.

Zink is the second Denver Outlaws to receive this honor this season—goalie Jesse Schwartzman was the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3.

The Outlaws return to action at home against the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Saturday, June 21, at 5:00 p.m. MDT.
