DENVERGoalie Jesse Schwartzman earned his second Warrior Defensive Player of the Week honor after saving a career-best 27 shots in Saturday’s playoff-clinching 17-11 win vs. Charlotte.

His 27 saves tied for second most in a single game in team history. Schwartzman turned away 27-of-37 shots on goal for a .730 save percentage. The 27 saves are the most that any goalie has recorded this season.

The weekly honor is the 10th in Schwartzman’s career (9 Defensive Player of the Week awards and 1 Rookie of the Week award), which represent the most by any player in Outlaws history.

Schwartzman, who will be appearing in his sixth MLL All-Star Game this year, has saved 33-of-46 shots (.717 pct.) over the past two games. He ranks second in the lead with a 9.7 goals-against average and a .603 save percentage for the season. His 117 saves are third most among all league goalies this year. Schwartzman has only allowed a pair of two-point goals this season, which leads the league.

“Jesse won the game for us,” Head Coach Jim Stagnitta said after Saturday’s victory. “He made some phenomenal saves. He certainly shut the door in the second, third and fourth quarter. He was terrific.”
The Outlaws host their penultimate home game of the season on Thursday, July 4. The Mile High Fourth of July game will be followed by Denver’s best postgame fireworks show.

The close-proximity fireworks show has become one of the city’s premiere events and this year promises to be a display to be remembered with the full-capacity unveiling of the $30 million stadium upgrades that were installed at Sports Authority Field over the past few months. Those renovations include a brand new 220 feet long by 40 foot high THUNDERVISION screen that will show a music video that is synced with the fireworks show.

The team, which is hoping to set its eight-consecutive MLL attendance record for the Independence Day Celebration game, is offering a ticket package deal with Elitch Gardens for Thursday’s game. The Elitch Gardens ticket can be used for any regular operating day at the theme and water park. Those tickets are available via Ticketmaster using the promo code JULY4.

Tickets for the game start at just $20 and can be purchased online at www.DenverOutlaws.comor over the phone by calling 303-20-OUTLAWS.
