The term sock trick originated here in Denver in 2004 when lacrosse legend, Gary Gait, scored six times in a Colorado Mammoth NLL game. Mammoth fans at Pepsi Center recognized Gait’s achievement by throwing their socks on to the field, similar to when hockey fans throw their hats on to the ice after a hat trick, prompting the PA announcer to call it a sock trick. Last Saturday night, Chris Bocklet opened up the 2013 Outlaws season in style by scoring six goals and achieving a sock trick in the Outlaws win over Charlotte.

Here are some of Chris Bocklet's comments-
Outlaws Lowdown: What are your general thoughts on Saturday’s game and scoring 6 goals?
Chris Bocklet: Playing your first game on the road is always a challenge. I felt like if I would have to sum up the game in two words it would be..."team effort". Every goal I scored was assisted from a teammate.

OL: What were you feeling once you scored your 5th goal in the 3rd quarter? Did you think you’d make it to 6 goals?
CB: I was just happy to be out there. This has been the longest time I have gone without playing competitive lacrosse. I have been training all year and was just excited to finally be playing.

OL: Did you know about the sock trick?
CB: I did not know about the sock trick nor do I know how it got its name? What is 9 goals, the shoe trick?

OL: In college or high school, have you ever scored 6 goals? If so, what’s the most number of goals you’ve scored?
CB:Yes, I scored 7 goals in college at the University of Virginia and I believe 9 was the most I scored in high school.
